John Widmann ’85 is City Carillonneur, Teacher, Director of Music, and More

John Widmann ’85

John Widmann ’85 continues as City Carillonneur for the City of Frederick, Md., playing the forty-nine-bell Joseph Dill Baker Carillon. He is also a general/vocal music teacher, K-5, at Frederick County Public Schools (working at Tuscarora Elementary School), and is director of Music and the organist at Frederick Presbyterian Church, all three in the City of Frederick.

Widmann plays concerts out of town as a guest carillon and organist artist, playing in both the Netherlands (Dokkum and Groningen) and Netherlands Antilles (Curacao) this last summer 2008. His 2009 concert schedule will take him to Montreal to the Carillon at the Oratoire St. Joseph du Mont Royal (July 5) and to Pennsylvania, where he will play in the guest series at Washington Chapel in Valley Forge on August 5.
