Senior research scientist for the US Department of Energy’s
National Energy Technology Laboratory, Barbara Osgood Kutchko ’97 is one of 27 finalists for the Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medal. The program’s sponsor, Partnership for Public Service, recognized Barbara for her work in rewriting standards
for the use of foamed cement in oil wells to prevent blowouts and damaging spills. She holds a PhD in civil and environmental engineering from Carnegie Mellon and a master’s degree in geology from Pitt.
She will be featured on the Partnership for Public Service website.
