Jan Humphreys, IUP professor emeritus of biology, and Leah Kostelnik Lamonte ’03, president of the Pennsylvania Vector Control Association
the Pennsylvania Vector Control Association, Leah Kostelnik Lamonte ’03 recently presented one of her former biology professors, IUP retiree Jan Humphreys, with the association’s highest award. The Gary E. Jones Award recognized Humphreys for his
years of research on diseases spread by insects and animals. A PVCA member for 25 years, Humphreys remains active in his research. A vector-control specialist with the Allegheny County Health Department, Leah conducts mosquito surveillance and control.
She and her husband, Samuel, live in North Versailles, where they also pastor a nondenominational Christian church called Temple of Faith.
