Friendship Public Charter Schools in Washington, DC, named Carlos Richardson ’00 its Teacher of the Year for 2014. One teacher was chosen from each of the system’s eight schools, and Carlos was selected for the top prize of $15,000. Carlos began working for Friendship Collegiate Academy High School in 2003. A year earlier, he received the DC Association of Chartered Public Schools’ High School Teacher/Leader of the Year award. Teachers are recognized for advancing the organization, using data to identify and address issues, and inspiring continued academic progress, among other factors.
