Jeff Bird, left, with Michael Greenberg
President of the Eta Omicron House Corporation at IUP since 2009, Jeff Bird ’85 is the recipient of Sigma Chi fraternity’s William T. Bringham Outstanding House Corporation Officer Award for 2015.
The award is given to a house corporation officer who has demonstrated outstanding loyalty to Sigma Chi through personal leadership, time, and effort.
First presented in 1974, the William T. Bringham Best House Corporation Officer Award is named for Order of Constantine & Significant Sig William T. Bringham, Illinois Wesleyan 1946, Sigma Chi’s executive secretary from 1954–1989.
Jeff began his service on the board in 2005. Most notably, he has lead his House Corporation to six consecutive Gold Level Sigma Chi Grand Trustee Outstanding House Corporation Awards. Outstanding House Corporation Awards are based on the following criteria: house corporation board structure and administration, chapter house management, and communications and fund-raising.
Jeff was presented the award by Grand Consul Michael A. Greenberg, Illinois Wesleyan 1982, at the 80th Grand Chapter in San Diego on June 26, 2015.
“I am first off completely surprised and humbled to be the recipient of such a prestigious award. I want to thank Ed Rammrath, Tom Clark, and Duane Corbett for the nomination and working the application process all without my knowledge,” Jeff said. “I also want to thank all those who graciously provided recommendation letters including past Grand Consul Murray McComas, Pennsylvania 1958. This is a huge honor for not only myself but all of my fellow Eta Omicron IUP brothers.”
Jeff is the second Bringham Award winner from IUP. Ed Rammrath ’79 received the award in 2007.
