Elementary Principal Julie Lofink Moore ’91 Receives Doctorate

Principal of McCormick Elementary in the Moon Area School District, Julie Lofink Moore ’91 donned a traditional cap and gown once again as she received a doctorate of education from the University of Pittsburgh in Oakland on Sunday, April 26, 2015. Moore completed her studies in administrative and policy studies in the university’s School of Education.

Moore earned a bachelor’s degree in English education at IUP. She completed her graduate studies at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, earning a master’s degree in reading education. She also holds certificates as a secondary principal and reading specialist as well as her superintendent’s letter of eligibility.

A resident of Moon Township, Moore was among more than 7,700 students receiving undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Pittsburgh’s campus in Oakland.

Moore first joined the Moon Area School District administrative staff in 2000 and has served as an assistant principal at the high school and principal at the middle school before being tapped to lead the staff at McCormick Elementary. She previously served as a reading specialist in the Bethel Park and Fort Cherry school districts.
