Kelly Wakefield ’85 was promoted to brigadier general, making her IUP’s 11th general officer. She recently assumed duties as deputy commanding general for support, 200th Military Police Command, responsible for mission command of more than 14,000 soldiers in 44 states. Since beginning her military career at the Military Police Officer Basic Course at Fort McClellan, Alabama, she has taken on assignments in California, Georgia, Nevada, Texas, Korea, and Japan and was deployed on active duty in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II as strategic operations protection officer, Multi-National Force—Iraq. She earned master’s degrees from Georgia Southern College and the US Army War College. In her civilian capacity, the Las Vegas resident is chief of market and mission analysis for the US Army 6th Recruiting Brigade.
