IUP Libraries users can now access two newly available open access collections. Assembled by Reveal Digital in partnership with JSTOR, and made open access with the support of multiple institutions, American Prison Newspapers and the Student Activism Collection contain thousands of primary sources, newspaper articles, images, and more.

  • American Prison Newspapers contains nearly 6,000 individual items from hundreds of newspapers published within prisons by incarcerated people over the past 200 years.
  • The Student Activism Collection captures the voices of students, with almost 18,600 individual items from across the great range of protest, political actions, and equal-rights advocacy from the 20th and early 21st century United States, reflecting all political viewpoints and stances.

Both of these collections offer a look at the often-lost "gray literature" that can give personal insight into social, political, and historical conditions and viewpoints of the times. Check out these newly added collections by visiting IUP Libraries Databases.
