Join the Center for Teaching Excellence for a Reflective Practice Large Group Meeting, facilitated by Crystal Machado and Lisa Price, COEC Diversity and Inclusion Standing Committee (DISC).

Description:

All IUP students will enter their careers needing knowledge and skills to interact with a range of diverse people as colleagues, clients, customers, etc. What kinds of program and course changes can you make that will ensure your students leave IUP with the ability to thrive in their careers and their lives? We will discuss top-down and bottom-up influences at play and how change may best happen from the “middle-out” (Parag & Janda, 2014). We will provide examples of changes that we have made to our courses and programs that help students build better cultural competence and ultimately more successful outcomes in their careers.

Attendees will be entered into a raffle to win a copy of the book The Person You Mean to Be: How Good People Fight Bias by Dolly Chugh (2018), sponsored by IUP Social Equity and Title IX Office.
