This presentation explores the complex and often contradictory role of religion in Latin American rebellions. While traditionally seen as a tool for social control, religion in Latin America has also served as a powerful force for resistance and liberation.

From the influence of Liberation Theology to grassroots spiritual movements, we will examine how religious beliefs, institutions, and leaders have been used to challenge systems of oppression, mobilize communities, and reimagine a more just society. By focusing on key historical and contemporary examples, this talk highlights how faith has been both a weapon and a refuge in the struggle against inequality.
