The fourth episode of Design Stars of IUP will feature original laser-cut pendant lamp designs by students in 3D Design and Digital Fabrication courses, and everyone is invited to attend as part of the live studio audience.
The students will present their laser-cut designs to a panel of IUP celebrity judges: Kelly Heider from IUP Libraries; Carrie Cole of Theatre, Dance, and Performance; and Molly Russell of Marketing and Communications. The judges will evaluate the designs live from the stage, and two designs will be chosen as this semester's Design Stars of IUP. The winning designs will be reproduced in laser-cut acrylic using the digital fabrication equipment in STEAMSHOP and will be installed on campus.
Design Stars of IUP is a public event organized by professors Sharon Massey and Sean Derry, who collaborate as Local X Change on curriculum with an emphasis on design, technology, and civic engagement.
