Additional Supplies

  • Culinary and Baking and Pastry students need to purchase additional supplies for the start of the fall semester. 

    Supplies You Need to Purchase

    • All-black, leather, tie, non-slip shoes (no clogs, no sneakers, no tennis shoes, must be closed shoe, no coloring or decorations)
    • Black Sharpie markers
    • Lock for your locker at the Academy or Fairman building
    • Pens and pencils
    • White short-sleeve t-shirts with no design or decoration. (If you wear a shirt under your chef coat, it must be a plain white t-shirt.)

    Camera is Required

    The camera is used to take pictures of classroom demos and cooking assignments for your portfolios.

    • Cell phones with a good camera.
    • You must be able to take and upload 30 photos per semester for your portfolios.
    • Photos are required to be very clear and of good quality.
    • Points will be deducted from your portfolio grade for unclear, blurry, and/or poor-quality photos.

    Computer, Laptop, Tablet

    Please note: Our recommendation for personal computers has changed due to social distancing guidelines being implemented on campus.

    • We recommend (if possible) you bring a computer (desktop, laptop, or tablet) to campus.
    • A camera and microphone (built into the device) or an external webcam are highly recommended to allow you the option of participating in some lecture classes virtually.
    • If you are unable to provide your own computer, you will have access to a computer lab in the IUP Punxsutawney Living and Learning Center.
    • Printing (black and white) is available in the computer lab from university computers.
    • You must add money to your I-Card to print.
