Schlott graduated from IUP in May 2019 with a degree in accounting. She met Eileen Peters, G-Squared’s director of Administration and Human Capital, at the SAA’s annual Career Day, a career fair geared toward accounting majors.

Peters majored in accounting at Saint Joseph’s University, worked in the accounting profession for five years, then took time off for family. Upon returning to work, she held a position with one of G-Squared’s clients. Peters left to join G-Squared and has worked there for nearly two years.

Representatives from G-Squared Partners spoke to 54 accounting majors at the October 28 SAA meeting. Shown are Kaitlin Albright, SAA vice president; Eileen Peters, director of Administration and Hhuman Capital at G-Squared; Victoria Schlott ’19, associate at G-Squared; and Matt DeCesare, SAA president.

According to their LinkedIn page, “G-Squared Partners, LLC provides part time CFO services and financial and strategic consulting to venture backed and emerging growth companies in the greater Philadelphia Area.”

G-Squared currently has over 50 clients, with that number rapidly increasing. Clients range in location from Washington, DC to New York City, with many of the clients in the Philadelphia area. Their number of employees is also rapidly growing. Peters looks to hire young adults fresh out of college and has recruited several IUP accounting majors, including Schlott.

Schlott shared a snapshot of what her daily tasks are like, which include processing transactions and sending emails on behalf of clients to vendors. She also compiles a weekly working capital report and closes the books for her clients on a monthly basis. Along with these tasks, there are special projects that employees are assigned.

G-Squared provides more than just day-to-day accounting services. The firm helps businesses understand the reports, numbers, and books. Many businesses that utilize G-Squared have management and owners who are not well-versed in the world of accounting. G-Squared will consult with businesses to guide their financials to prepare for success. Outsourcing accounting services can be quite beneficial for businesses. For example, there is a cost savings aspect; businesses can be more efficient, and the businesses can focus more on core competencies.
