Volunteer Leadership Award

The Award for Excellence in Volunteer Leadership is presented annually to an alumnus and/or alumna in recognition of his/her exemplary work on behalf of the IUP Alumni Association.

Recipients are honored for their Alumni Association activities and programs, leadership roles, and dedication to reunions, regional network events, and other alumni activities.

The award was presented for the first time in 2010 at Homecoming. It will not be possible to honor all of our outstanding alumni in a given year, but the volunteer selected is representative of all alumni who give their time, enthusiasm, and expertise to IUP.

Who’s Eligible?

Eligibility is open to graduates of the Indiana Normal School, Indiana State Teachers College, Indiana State College, and Indiana University of Pennsylvania who exhibit exceptional volunteer work on behalf of the IUP Alumni Association. Service to the Alumni Association may be a single act, or it may be a long record of participation and involvement.

How Are Alumni Chosen?

The awards committee of the IUP Alumni Association Board of Directors reviews all nominations and presents its recommendations to the board. Awards are presented each year at Homecoming.

How Can I Nominate Someone?

Forms are available through the IUP Alumni Relations office. Call us at 800-YES-2IUP (800-937-2487) or complete the Award of Excellence in Volunteer Leadership nomination form. Nominations may be submitted by faculty, staff, students, friends of the university, or any IUP alumnus or alumna and must be received by May 15.
