Brian Jones is a professor of theater and the resident scenery and lighting designer for the Department of Theatre, Dance, and Performance at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Brian has designed scenery and lighting for more than 300 productions. He has designed for the Salt Lake Acting Company, the Electric Theatre Company in Scranton, Pa., TheatreWorks West, Keystone Repertory Theater, and the Metro Playhouse of New York City. His favorite designs have been for re-imagined classics such as Macbeth at Theater-by-the-Grove, and for new plays such as Elephant Sighs at Keystone Repertory Theater. His design for Zastrozzi: The Master of Discipline received a Meritorious Achievement Award from the Kennedy Center/American College Theater Festival.
Since 2001, Brian has expanded his artistic interests to include puppetry and masks. In 2004, he was an artist in residence with Mum Puppettheatre in Philadelphia, where he designed The Puppetmaster of Lodz. In 2010 he completed a three-week intensive in commedia dell arte techniques in the In Bocca al Lupo program in Orvieto, Italy. He is also the executive director of Footlight Players, a youth theater day camp and teen academy at IUP.
Brian has offered leadership on the boards of the Indiana Arts Council and of Downtown Indiana and has been an officer in the US Institute for Theatre Technology and the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival. He is a visiting reviewer for the National Association of Schools of Theater.
