Online Graduate Instruction: Practical Strategies for Better Teaching

Awarded to: Kristy Chunta

In order to support faculty professional development, this grant will fund a yearly subscription to The Teaching Professor by Magna Publications. The subscription will provide evidence-based ideas to support faculty teaching, while providing opportunities for dialogue within the teaching circle about practical teaching strategies. Focusing on faculty teaching can prevent burnout and promote well-being. Additionally, the weekly articles will be used to support graduate student development. Students in the PhD in Nursing program and some Master of Science in Nursing students will work in academic nursing positions. The resources can be used to support their development as a future educator.

Ethical and Transparent use of AI as a Thought Partner for Curriculum Development and Publication

Awarded to: Crystal Machado

This mini grant proposal requested another year of two ChatGPT Business seats and one faculty-rate Consensus Pro subscription. Machado has used ChatGPT to revise courses, develop instructional materials, and model ethical AI use. She will extend that work in ETIT103 Digital Instructional Design, MEDU764 Technology Today and Tomorrow, EDCI983 Qualitative and Mixed Method Analysis, and EDCI915 Writing for Publication. She will document her pedagogical exploration in two chapters for her edited book, Modeling and Mentoring the Use of AI in the College Classroom.

Building a Culture of Faculty Wellness: From Personal Health to Professional Well-Being

Awarded to: Brittanie Perla

The Health Sciences Faculty Wellness Teaching Circle seeks to enhance faculty well-being through a lunch-and-learn session, Reset Your Health in 3 Easy Steps presented by CrossFit Indiana, coupled with a professional development book study. The session will provide practical, evidence-based strategies to support personal health and well-being. To extend learning beyond the event, health science wellness committee members will participate in a book study of 12 Keys to Health, Happiness, and Well-Being for Nurses and the Healthcare Workforce. Through discussion and reflection, the teaching circle members will develop wellness expertise and serve as champions who promote evidence-based well-being practices.

Mindful Feedback: Using ClaudeAI to Strengthen Course-Level Feedback in Graduate Nursing Education

Awarded to: Meigan Robb

This mini-grant proposal seeks funding to support faculty professional development in mindful, AI-assisted course-level feedback. Specifically, funds well provide Teaching Circle members with Claude Pro subscriptions to analyze de-identified, aggregated patterns in student work, rather than individual submissions, and translate these patterns into course-level feedback such as clarifying mono-lessons, discussion prompts, and exemplars. Upon completing this work, Teaching Circle members will apply these strategies to graduate nursing curricula and share insights through a faculty lunch and learn, a future CTE workshop, or the IUP AI summit.
