Mimi Benjamin, professor in the Student Affairs in Higher Education program, and Hunter Bash, 2026 graduate of the Student Affairs in Higher Education program, were both honored at the 2026 NASPA Region II annual conference in Washington, DC, in June.

NASPA: Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education is one of the primary professional organizations for practitioners and faculty in student affairs and higher education, serving over 15,000 professionals in the US and abroad. NASPA Region II includes Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Washington, DC, and West Virginia.

Benjamin received the regional award for Outstanding Contribution to Literature and/or Research. Her research has focused on learning communities, peer mentoring, and new faculty experiences. She joined the IUP faculty in 2013.

Bash, who graduated in May, was honored with the Outstanding Graduate Assistant regional award. While at IUP, he served as a graduate assistant for the Crimson Scholars Circle program and will begin his role as a Title III Academic Advisor at Husson University in Bangor, Maine, in summer 2026.
