Justin Brown, an IUP alumnus, will host “Ugh!?! Not Another Diversity Presentation” via Zoom for undergraduate and graduate student leaders. As an IUP alumnus, Justin has a unique perspective on what life as an IUP student is like, what has changed since he has been on campus, and the work we still have left to do.

Justin has over 10 years of experience leading diversity trainings and is well-versed in virtual trainings—which works perfectly for times of social distancing. According to Justin, this training will shift your paradigms regarding racism, prejudices, stereotypes, women’s issues, differences in gender, inequity, intersectionality, and media. This fully engaging and interactive session is facilitated using games, activities, role-plays, and social experiments that will help challenge and develop the participant’s mind and soul. Nothing is taboo. It pulls no punches and puts anything and everything on the table. Finally, this session will address anyone who desires to experience life through the eyes of others.

The Zoom link and login details will be sent out to participants the week of the training. Fill out the RSVP form to register for the event.

These trainings are sponsored by the President's Commission on Inclusion and Diversity.

Workshop: Creating Inclusive Spaces

Zoom

Guest speaker, Justin Brown, will be hosting a workshop on Creating Inclusive Spaces for IUP faculty and programming staff from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2020. As an IUP alum and a current PASSHE employee, Justin has a unique perspective on what life as an IUP student is like and he is well-versed in virtual DEI trainings – which works perfectly for times of social distancing. Justin has done some great trainings for our students, but we wanted to make sure that faculty and programming staff also had opportunities to engage in conversations about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the classroom and at campus events. This will include classroom dynamics, course/event content, and curriculum. Justin is a dynamic presenter and while this session may seem like a long time to carve out of your schedule, it will be worth it! As Justin likes to say, "We can no longer be the change we want to see, we have to teach the change we want to see." The Zoom link and log-in details will be sent the day before the training. Please RSVP for the training.  Sponsored by the President's Commission on Diversity and Inclusion.  Further information:  mduncan@iup.edu
