Professor Marveta Ryan-Sams will highlight the similar historical experiences of people of African descent in Latin America and the Caribbean. She will also point out the many ways that Afro-Latin Americans have contributed to the cultures of their countries and developed their own diverse racial and cultural identities.

This workshop for the Leadership in a Multicultural Society (LMS) will explore identity development and awareness.  As a leader, understanding ones identity is important in providing perspective.  Discussions and activities will help students better understand themselves, those around them and how they interact with others.
