    The first stage of the strategic planing process was the development and creation of the strategic vision and IUP values statements, which was completed in fall 2014. Following the development of “The Vision for IUP’s Future,” a four-phase strategic planning process began in March 2014.

    Phase I: Definition

    March 2014–May 2014

    • Identify strategic vision and values
    • Environmental scan
    • Assess and map “parent” plans
    • Assess challenges and opportunities

    Outcome: Draft goal statements

    Phase II: Goal Development

    May 2014–September 2014

    • Articulate goal elements
    • Develop element action plans
      • Identify stakeholders
      • Assign responsible offices
      • Feasibility assessments
    • Coordination with MSCHE self-study

    Outcome: Draft Strategic Plan

    Phase III: Feedback and Revision

    September 2014–February 2015

    • Information gathering
    • Feedback sessions
    • Editing and revision of Strategic Plan
    • Coordination with MSCHE self-study

    Outcome: Revised Strategic Plan

    Phase IV: Finalization

    February 2015–May 2015

    • Final revisions and edits
    • Senate review
    • Council of Trustees ratification
