  • Learn how to create a podium or poster presentation with a workshop hosted by the Kathleen Jones Writing Center on March 2, 7:00–8:00 p.m.

Scholars Forum

The Scholars Forum returns to the KCAC after a two-year hiatus, presenting a great opportunity to celebrate and highlight the hard work our students have been doing over the year. All IUP students are eligible to present their work to the campus and the public on this day. Apply online for a fun, low-risk occasion to present your research, scholarly activities, or creative works in a friendly environment.

Presentations should represent high-quality work that goes beyond a typical classroom assignment or project (but it can be developed from these). Forum participation is designed to foster scholarship and collegiality among students and faculty and to provide a forum for students to discuss their academic work with a community of scholars.

Students currently enrolled in any program at Indiana University of Pennsylvania or who completed a degree in the December of the current academic year are eligible to submit a proposal to present recently completed or ongoing research or creative works in one of these different formats: oral presentation, poster presentation, performance, or juried art exhibit. All submissions must include the name and email address of a faculty sponsor who will attest to the quality of the work. Please note that research done in collaboration with faculty or practicing professionals is eligible for submission if the student has played a substantial role in the research.

Descriptions of each presentation format:

Oral Presentation — Oral presentations are 15–20 minutes in length, including time for questions. This format is ideal for work that is in a more advanced stage of completion with results and interpretations.

Poster Presentation — Students develop a professional conference poster that describes their research. This format is ideal for ongoing and complete work.

Performance— Students in the creative arts may participate in the forum with literary readings, dance, theater, or musical performances. Performances will be for a maximum of 20 minutes in length.

Juried Art: Students may submit work for the juried art exhibit. Initial review is handled by faculty from the Art and Design Department, and selected pieces are displayed at the forum.
