College Credit for IUP Students

IUP students who successfully complete the EMT course at IUP are eligible for up to four transfer credits through the Department of Kinesiology, Health, and Sport Science. More information is available in the EMT Credit Transfer Agreement.

The EMT Training Program is a "clock hour" certificate program. Students who complete an EMT certificate with IUP may be able to utilize the "4 credit hour" transfer agreement.

The certificate program is ineligible for federal financial aid. This means that current undergraduate/graduate students enrolled in a credit-hour degree program cannot utilize the certificate clock hours to meet financial aid (including scholarship) eligibility requirements, nor will the EMT certificate clock hours be eligible for federal, state, or institutional financial aid. Students considering concurrent enrollment in both the EMT certificate and a degree program should contact the Office of Financial Aid to inquire how this decision may impact their financial aid awards,

Technical and Course Requirements

Students will need regular access to a reliable computer with:

  • Current operating system
  • Robust, high-speed internet connection
  • Current Flash player
  • Active email account

Students need to be able to create user accounts, navigate a web-based learning platform, send and receive emails, attach files, and open attachments using common computer applications. Students without good academic or computer skills should consider a traditional classroom format instead.

In addition to online and lab sessions, students must complete 10 patient contacts at an approved field site.

This will require:

  • Up-to-date immunizations: measles/HepB/-TB (cost varies)
  • PSP criminal clearance ($10)
