The Education Track of our online Nursing MS helps you gain the teaching expertise you need to guide the next generation of nurses. Once you graduate, you can help them learn the fundamentals of the profession while also guiding them through new breakthroughs and technology.
In addition to traditional education roles, your role may also include educating patients or guiding nursing staff development in a variety of academic and healthcare settings. Finally, you can use a specialization in this track to build a foundation for doctoral studies.
Benefits of the Nursing MS Education Track
The master's degree program in nursing at Indiana University of Pennsylvania is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education(http://www.ccneaccreditation.org). Once you graduate, you will be fully prepared to assume an advanced-practice nursing role as an educator.
Graduates assume responsibility as nurse educators, patient educators, or nursing staff development in a variety of academic and healthcare settings. Completion of the degree will prepare you to:

Our coursework builds on your existing knowledge and skills. It provides the theoretical and practical knowledge required for advanced nursing education practice in diverse settings within a rapidly changing healthcare system. All courses are offered online.

You can choose electives from IUP courses that are appropriate for your needs and interests and approved by your advisor as you work toward meeting the program objectives. You can substitute three credits of NURS 795 (Thesis) for an elective.
Students who choose the thesis option may graduate with more than the required 36 credits.
