I am saddened to let you know of the passing of David LaPorte, of Pittsburgh, on May 13. Dr. LaPorte was a faculty member in the Department of Psychology.

Dave joined IUP in August 1995 and was active on campus and respected for his expertise and his care for his students. During his time at IUP, he served many roles outside of the classroom, including being the supervisor of the Assessment Clinic in the Center for Applied Psychology, the director of Clinical Training for the Clinical Psychology doctoral program, and the chair of the University Senate.

Dave also worked privately as a clinical psychologist and was a valuable source of help and comfort for many.

A celebration of his life will be held July 23 at his home in Pittsburgh. Arrangements are being handled by Wolfe Memorial, LLC, of Pittsburgh.

Please join me in sending your thoughts and prayers for comfort and peace to the LaPorte family, as well as to everyone at IUP or in the community who knew Dave and who is affected by his passing.
