I am saddened to inform you of the death of Brian Swatt, a junior political science major from Mayfield, as a result of a one-vehicle traffic accident on Friday, June 7, in Armstrong County.
Many of you may have known Brian from his work as president of IUP's Student Government Association and his service on the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Board of Governors. He was also a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, June 17, at 9:30 a.m., at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, 624 Madison Ave., Jermyn, Lackawanna County.
Friends will be welcomed Sunday, June 16, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Charles A. Battenburg Funeral Home, 363 Washington Ave., Jermyn. Additional parking will be available at the Artisan Fire Company parking lot, 20 Maple St., Jermyn.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to made in Brian's memory to Goose Pond Scout Reservation Capital Building Fund. Checks can be made payable to: NEPA Council BSA, 72 Montage Mountain Rd., Moosic, PA 18507.
