I am saddened to tell you of the June 23 death of Nancy J. Newkerk, former dean of Women and former associate dean of Admissions at IUP. Nancy was the 2009 recipient of the IUP President's Medal of Distinction for her professional achievement, and was inducted as an honorary member of the IUP Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006 in recognition of her dedication to IUP athletics and to student athletes.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 6, at 2:00 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, where visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service. Interment will be in the Liberty (New York) Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, Indiana, or to the Carol Teti Memorial Organ Scholarship Fund or the Nancy Newkerk Student Affairs Scholarship Fund, both in care of the Foundation for IUP.
