Colleagues,

I am sorry to inform you of the death of Cody Miller, a freshman safety, health, and environmental applied sciences major from Homer City. Cody died on March 17.

Cody was a 2014 participant in the Upward Bound Math and Science program, a recipient of the Sutton Scholarship, and a member of the IUP track and field team. He was a student worker at the Hadley Union Building gymnasium.

Visitation will take place at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, 4606 Old US Highway South, Homer City, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25.

The family has asked that donations be made in Cody's memory to the Homer-Center Education Foundation, 65 Wildcat Lane, Homer City, PA 15748.

The death of someone you knew can evoke strong feelings. The best way to cope is to talk to your closest friends, family members, or trusted teachers. There are people among us who have experienced similar events, and they are often more than willing to help others going through difficult circumstances.

Students who would like to speak with a counselor should call 724-357-2621 or visit the Counseling Center in the Center for Health and Well-Being, Suites on Maple East. Walk-in hours at the Counseling Center are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Counselors will be available for crisis appointments and consultation and to offer guidance and support during difficult times. Members of the IUP Interfaith Council also are available to talk with those in need of support.
