Since February, the IUP Strategic Visioning Team has conducted group interviews of every campus constituency. More than 400 people have participated. It's now time to state the vision and start working to make it reality.

On Monday, October 28, 2013, IUP will gather at Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex for a day-long summit. I hope you can join us.

At the summit we will share the draft vision statement and what the Strategic Visioning Team found. Keynote speaker Dr. Richard Morrill, University of Richmond chancellor, Teagle Foundation past president, and author, will give us his advice on how to collaboratively develop a strategic plan. In small groups you will have a chance to share your ideas on the draft vision and how we move forward together.

What we learn at the summit will guide final revisions to the Strategic Vision, which will go to the University Senate and Council of Trustees in December for endorsement.

Faculty, staff and students are invited to participate in the day's events. Both breakfast and lunch will be provided. Several faculty members have said that rather than cancel classes to attend, they plan to bring classes to this summit. I hope that faculty, staff, and students who participate will find this valuable now, but I also hope it extends into our students' personal investment in the university as they become alumni and advocates.

IUP's future concerns all of us. By sharing your thoughts, ideas, and concerns, we will, together, shape our own future and design our own destiny.

Details will follow soon, and we will ask you to RSVP for planning purposes.

President
