Provost search candidate Timothy Moerland, of Kent State University, will visit campus on October 11–12 to talk with constituents and learn more about IUP.

Moerland was dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Kent State from 2008 to 2012 and has been a professor of biological sciences there since 2008.

At Kent, Moerland spearheaded creation of the innovative School of Digital Science, a virtual interdisciplinary program, and has received numerous extramural grants.

Previously, Moerland was chair of the Department of Biological Science at Florida State University for five years. He also served as an associate dean at Florida State.

He earned his PhD in zoology from the University of Maine in 1984 and his B.S. in biology from Michigan State University in 1978.

Moerland's visit is the second of four provost candidate visits scheduled throughout October.
