You may have seen news reports of a helicopter accident in Indiana Borough adjacent to campus around 9:00 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2011.
We are relieved that there were no injuries to students or others on the ground. It is our understanding that the helicopter pilot and passengers are being treated at area medical centers.
The helicopter was being used by the staff of a reality television show, Campus PD. The title of the show implies that IUP police were involved. They were not. The university was neither consulted nor involved in any arrangements related to this project. The show's producers made all arrangements for filming in the community with the Indiana Borough Police Department.
Any students is in need of immediate assistance resulting from this accident have been asked to contact University Police at 724-357-2141.
