I notified today, September 29, 2010, IUP's APSCUF leadership that our budget planning has progressed to the point that it will not be necessary to retrench tenure or tenure-track faculty for fiscal year 2011–2012.
While this particular issue has been resolved, this fact remains: IUP faces very significant budget challenges for 2011–2012.
While keeping our central mission in the forefront of our planning, we are working diligently to identify strategies to increase revenues and reduce costs for the 2011–2012 budget year. As I stressed during the academic year opening program, there will be no “sacred cows” in this process.
