I am saddened to inform you of the recent passing of John B. McCue, 88, a former member of the IUP Council of Trustees.

A lifelong resident of Kittanning, he died April 11, 2010, after a long illness.

Mr. McCue was a World War II veteran, retiring as a colonel and later given the honorary rank of brigadier general by the commonwealth.

Active in his community, he worked as an attorney in Kittanning and served Armstrong County's 60th District as a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for two terms.

He served as a member of IUP's Council of Trustees from November 9, 1982, to April 17, 1991. He was a member of the Armstrong Educational Trust, the advisory link between the university and the community, from its inception until 2001, and was its president for eight years.

I know that you join me in offering our thoughts and prayers to Mr. McCue's family at this difficult time.

Tony Atwater, Ph.D.
President
