Contemporary Spirituality for Mental Health

  • Many of us are taught to think of losing faith as the opposite of a strong spiritual life. For individuals living with depression, loss occurs frequently. Depression involves a loss of joy, a loss of self, a loss of functionality. And for many, a loss of faith.

Principles of process philosophy assert that with loss comes novelty. This lecture will draw from process thought and the speaker’s personal experiences to discuss ways of developing a spirituality that both owns loss and chooses life.

Sponsored by the Center for Multicultural Student Leadership and Engagement.
