Outstanding in the Field

Maddy Outman

Maddy Outman, a graduate student from Longmont, Colo., was selected as the 2009 Division II Outdoor Track and Field Atlantic Region Women’s Field Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross County Coaches Association.

In her only season with the Crimson Hawks, she was a two-time All-American and was named Most Outstanding Overall Athlete at both the PSAC indoor and outdoor championships. At the PSAC outdoor meet, she won the 100-meter hurdles with a school record time of 14.04. Earlier in the season, she set an IUP record with 4,975 points in the pentathlon at the Penn Relays. She competed in the pentathlon at nationals and was sixth, becoming the first IUP woman to earn All-America honors in the multi-events at the NCAA indoor meet.
