Outstanding in the Field

Nafee Harris

IUP sophomore Nafee Harris from Lancaster claimed the national title in the long jump at the May 21 NCAA outdoor track and field championships at San Angelo, Tex.

He is the twelfth national champion in IUP track and field history and the first-ever national champion in a jumping event, breaking the IUP long jump record set in 2003. Combined with Sean Strauman’s win in the 800 meters last spring, IUP has enjoyed a national championship in consecutive years for the first time since the 2001 and 2002 seasons. Harris is only the second IUP athlete to earn All-America status in a jumping event.
