  • Darla Barie and Raymond Coppler have submitted essays and were chosen to be on a student panel for the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education third annual Diversity Summit. Qiana Lightner (undergraduate student) and Carina Heckert (graduate student) presented with Victor Garcia at the conference.
  • The fourth annual Women in Mathematics, Science, and Technology Program was held on April 1, when forty-two women (four faculty members and thirty-eight students) from the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics presented thirty-five research posters. A panel of judges—Seema Bharathan (Biology), Nate McElroy (Chemistry), Mark Palumbo (Psychology), Ruiess Ramsey (Chemistry, Professor Emerita), and Janet Walker (Mathematics), and coordinated by Vida Irani (Biology)—recognized five undergraduate and two graduate projects.
  • Ruben Henao, graduate student in the Department of Student Affairs in Higher Education, received a Chacivity Award on Wednesday, April 22, 2009. “Chacivity” awards (abbreviated for character, civility, and integrity) are presented to students who exemplify behaviors that uplift the spirit of the IUP community through their contributions.
