Waller Building Security

Waller Hall is open from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, and from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. on Sundays. (Due to custodians going off-duty at midnight, all exterior doors will be locked by 11:30 p.m. each night.) For safety reasons, Waller is locked from 12:00 a.m. until 7:00 a.m. each day.  Only if prior special arrangements are made can students be present in Waller during closed hours.

Students are not to be in the building during closed hours except under one of the following circumstances:

  • A faculty or staff member is present to supervise the activity.
  • The faculty member responsible for the students has filled out a permission slip in advance.  This slip is obtained in the department office and is to specify the name, date and time (closed hour) when the student will be permitted to use the building.  The student is to take the slip to Campus Police in advance of the date and time to notify Campus Police that they have permission to use the building at a particular time. (A copy is to be kept in the department office.)  Only the student(s) whose name(s) appear(s) on the slip is/are to be in Waller Hall at that time.

Individuals seeking a quiet place to study or to sleep should never use Waller Hall during closed hours.  Students in an unattended building late at night are putting themselves at high risk.  Permission to use the building after hours is to be reserved for department-related projects that cannot be carried on elsewhere.
