Verification of Teaching Experience

Supervisor certification requires a minimum of three years of satisfactory certified vocational teaching experience.

The department will issue a Supervisor of Vocational Education Certificate to a person who has a minimum of three years of satisfactory certified vocational teaching experience and whose primary assignment will be one or more of the following:

  • Instructional supervision in the fields of vocational education—vocational agriculture, vocational business, distributive education, health occupations, vocational home economics, and vocational industrial, or trade and industrial—in area vocational technical schools and corresponding vocational courses in the public secondary schools of this commonwealth.

The Bureau of Teacher Preparation and Certification of the Pennsylvania Department of Education determines whether a candidate meets the teaching experience requirement. Prospective candidates who have doubts concerning experience requirements should submit PDE Forms 338G and 338V to the bureau, requesting a pre-program definition of qualifying experience prior to enrollment.
