Cantus Educational Outreach

CantusAs part of their time at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, renowned a capella male vocal group Cantus will work with high school, college, and community male singers on November 6 and 7, 2016, in a variety of outreach activities. Attending the sessions is free.

High School choral directors in Western Pennsylvania are invited to send male quartets to IUP to perform with the premier men’s vocal ensemble in the United States, as well as a combined Honor Choir. The Honor Choir will be rehearsed by the director of choral studies at IUP, Ryan Beeken. A flyer and form is available for download online (pdf). It also includes information on repertoire.

There are two additional opportunities for interested individuals to interact with Cantus. The first is at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 6, in Stapleton Library as part of the Library/Lively Arts Series. IUP faculty, staff, students, and the greater Indiana community are invited to hear the group in a relaxed lecture/demonstration format as they perform a few pieces, talk about music and their careers, and answer audience questions.

Also on Friday, November 6, at 7:00 p.m. the group will conduct an open rehearsal in Gorell Recital Hall on the second Floor of John Sutton Hall. This is open for observation to everyone.
