Pennsylvania OSHA consultation services operate independent of the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and are available at no cost to small, privately owned businesses located throughout the Commonwealth. The consultant will not provide
the name of your company, its owner(s), or any other information about your workplace to OSHA, provided the employer agrees to correct all serious hazards identified during the onsite consultation visit. Requests for consultation services
will not initiate a federal safety and health enforcement inspection.
OSHA defines a small business as having 250 employees or less in a single location with a maximum of 500 overall, or up to 500 employees in multiple locations (including out-of-state). We can offer limited services to larger companies, but
please note that our mandated set of priorities places larger companies at the bottom of our consultation visit list. Please note we cannot offer our no-cost services to state, federal, or local government agencies.
For more information, please view our videos here on our website, and read the “Overview” page of this website. If you still have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at OSHA-IUP@iup.edu,
or call us at 1-800-382-1241. One of faculty members here in OSHA Consultation will be happy to answer any questions you have.
If you would like to request an onsite consultation visit, please complete this consultation request. Once your request has been processed, you will receive an email confirmation from our office here at IUP which will include the name(s) and contact information
of the health and/or safety consultations assigned to your visits. Your consultant will contact you directly to set up mutually agreeable date and time for the visit and discuss the scope of the visit.
We ask for your patience. Pennsylvania OSHA Consultation experiences a recurring backlog of small business compliance assistance requests and, given the amount of travel our consultants do, it may take several months to get your visit scheduled.
