For the second consecutive year, the IUP Legacy Gala will offer alumni and friends from all over the world the opportunity to participate in the event—without leaving their computers.

A silent auction, with items ranging from golf trips to artwork, is part of the IUP Legacy Gala, which benefits the University Fund for Academic Excellence.

This fund supports academic, programmatic, and experiential expenses that directly benefit IUP students and expand their opportunities beyond the classroom. The IUP International Education Scholarship Program, made possible in large part by the fund, provides financial support to students taking part in overseas educational opportunities.

Visitors may bid on items on line now through 11:59 a.m. April 7, 2010. Bidding will resume at the Legacy Gala, to be held Saturday, April 10, at the Carnegie Museum Music Hall Foyer.

Hosted by Dr. Tony Atwater, IUP president, and his wife, Dr. Beverly Roberts-Atwater, the event features the 2010 presentations of the Presidential Legacy Award for Civic Service to Glenn Cannon, senior vice president for Hillard Heintze and a 1971 graduate of IUP, and the Presidential Legacy Award for Alumni Distinction to Barbara Russell, actor-educator, a 1954 graduate of IUP.

Terry L. Dunlap, group president, ATI Flat-Rolled Products, and president, ATI Allegheny Ludlum Business Unit, a 1981 IUP graduate, will serve as master of ceremonies for the gala.

This black-tie event will feature cocktails and hors d'oeuvres beginning at 6:00 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m., with music and dancing at 9:00 p.m.
