The director of the IUP Symphony Orchestra, Rebekah O'Brien, was featured in a recent article by the Centre Daily Times for her work in starting the New Ground Orchestra Festival. The event, which takes place in State College, brings female orchestral musicians from across the world to Pennsylvania to perform concerts and participate in sessions on health and well-being. The musicians also give back to the community by serving at various organizations during the festival.
