The University Museum at Indiana University of Pennsylvania presents Visio Duplex, an upcoming exhibition on display from September 12 through October 17 featuring the art of local creators Janice Trusky Clay and Beth Yoe Fiddler. The show examines the entwined nature of the human experience through exuberant color, observant detail, and reflective visual storytelling.
To mark the exhibition’s debut, the public is invited to a free opening reception on Saturday, September 12, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m in Sutton Hall. Guests can explore the artwork, meet the artists, and enjoy complimentary food and drinks.
Though distinct in their individual artistic styles and techniques, Clay and Fiddler share a creative bond forged in their adjoining studios in Indiana, PA. Visio Duplex—meaning “dual vision”—highlights how two different perspectives can arrive at common ground. Clay and Fiddler use their work to invite contemplation, encouraging viewers to cultivate introspection and empathy in a complex world.
“Having these two talented artists exhibit together offers our community a meaningful look at how proximity and shared values influence visual expression,” said the University Museum team. “While their creative approaches differ, their collective work demonstrates how art can bridge personal experiences and foster a deeper sense of mutual understanding.”
The University Museum at IUP is located in John Sutton Hall, a beautifully restored and nationally registered historic landmark built in 1875. The mission of the museum is to bring the material history and arts of the region together in an environment that encourages exploration, dialogue, and enjoyment. This mandate is based on the belief that art and history are unbounded and essential to our understanding of who we were, who we are, and who we want to be.
Following the public reception on September 12, the exhibit will be available for viewing during regular University Museum hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday: 2:00 p.m–6:30 p.m; Thursday: Noon–7:30 p.m.; Saturday: Noon–4:30 p.m.; Closed Sunday, Monday, and university holidays.
