Facilities Operations

  • SchoolDude LogoThe Facilities Operations Group has the responsibility for maintaining and repairing the physical facilities and mechanical systems of the university in a cost-effective manner.

    In addition, the group provides construction services for departmental funded renovations and specially funded building and campus upgrades. Facilities Operations has a diversified staff representing various trades, as well as management staff for planning jobs and managing outside contractors.

  • Event Setup: Do I Have to Pay?
    Charges for event support are dependent on the amount of personnel needed to support the event. If above normal staffing is required, charges are likely.

    Custodial Services
    Responsible for day-to-day upkeep of university buildings and event set ups
    Non-Maintenance Facility Repairs
    While maintenance workers do maintain most of the facilities on campus, there are certain equipment and services other departments maintain.
    Plumbing
    Maintenance of plumbing for seventy buildings
    Paint Shop
    This shop consists of one painter/plasterer, four painters, and one sign painter.
    Mechanical Shop
    Mechanical shop includes elevator maintenance.
    Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning
    Heating and cooling maintenance
    Carpentry Shop
    Carpentry and locksmith services
    Grounds
    Maintenance of 240 acres of cultivated and uncultivated property owned by IUP
    Electric Shop
    Maintenance of campus electrical needs
    Automotive Shop
    Automotive services maintains, services, and repairs university-owned vehicles, equipment, and emergency generators.
    Afternoon Shift
    Maintenance for the repairs and emergencies which occur on the 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. shift
