After being away on assignment in Asia for nearly five years, Henry Yates M’97 is back in the U.S. with his wife and new son, all living in Avondale, Pa.
“Now that I'm back in the U.S., I'm taking the role of global applications engineer for one of the product lines that I supported in Asia,” Henry said. “We make the world’s best copper digital I/O cables for supercomputing applications.”
As the Asia-Pacific technical leader in the Electronic Products Division of W. L. Gore and Associates, Inc., Henry hired and trained all of the applications engineers from Delhi, India, to Tokyo, Japan, and many places in between. His role also included consulting on the start-up of the company’s first manufacturing plant in Asia, located in Shenzhen, China.
His overseas job produced an added benefit.
“While I was living in Hong Kong, I met and married a wonderful woman,” he said. His wife, Cynthia, gave birth to Henry Yates III on December 14, 2009.
“Thankfully, he looks more like my wife than he does me,” Henry said.
