The IUP Libraries Special Collections and University Archives was awarded the Historical Archives and Records Care Grant by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museums Commission (PHMC) to digitize and transcribe oral history interviews with African American Women who worked for the Glass Company in Jeannette, Pennsylvania.
These interviews and supporting documentation are part of Manuscript Group 76 Folklife Division of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Heritage Preservation Commission.
The IUP Special Collections and University Archives will be working on this grant for the next year. The grant will include the purchase of new scanning equipment and support the outsourcing of digitization of taped interviews which will be transcribed by the department.
