Brightspace Professional Development: Teaching Online Certificate Course

IUP is partnering with Kutztown, Clarion, Edinboro, Bloomsburg, East Stroudsburg, and California universities to offer the Teaching Online Certificate Course.

Brightspace Faculty Professional Development Opportunity

The last session for Teaching and Online Certificate Course will be held November 1-21, 2021. You can register using the TOCC Registration form.  

Registration will be from Oct 21 – Oct 26, 2021.

The TOCC is three weeks in duration. Benefits for attendees include:

  • Course is asynchronous and fully online
  • Proceed at their own pace
  • Addition of Knowledge Checks for self-assessment
  • Modules released when Meets Expectation for Previous Modules is achieved

This online course provides instructors with a student's perspective, guidance on designing an online course, and instructions for using the various D2L Brightspace tools. The Teaching Online Certificate Course, which is Quality Matters certified, provides a foundation in:

  • Creating an effective online course
  • Designing and developing an online course (including design, learning outcomes, instructional strategies)
  • Building community and fostering communication/collaboration
  • Assessment tools in D2L Brightspace and alternative assessment methods (including feedback and rubrics)
  • Managing and accessing the online course

Participation in this course is strictly voluntary.
