IUP’s newest building houses the
College of Humanities and Social Sciences, which includes the departments of English, Journalism, Political Science, History, Philosophy, Religious Studies, and Geography and Regional Planning.
Academic year 2015–16 witnessed not only the normal activities of CHSS, but also the culmination of a decade-long dream of moving into our new home in the Humanities and Social Sciences building. Fundraising efforts from August 2014 through June 2016 helped to raise nearly $30,000 in support of our new building. The major work of moving in took place over the 2015–16 Winter Break, and, in late January, students with majors from across the university enjoyed their first classes in our new state-of-the-art classrooms.

The new building features architectural elements from both Keith and Leonard halls as a way to preserve a flavor of the past, and its technology offerings make it conducive to today’s learning needs.
In addition, the building provides those who travel by wheelchair or motorized scooter a completely accessible path from the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology and Memorial Field House to the Oak Grove.

Read more about the new building in “Humanities and Social Sciences to Get High-Tech New Home,” which appeared in the summer 2012 issue of IUP Magazine.
