Join the IUP Haven Project throughout Domestic Violence Awareness Month for the Silent Witness Exhibit, a traveling awareness display that honors victims of domestic and intimate partner violence and raises awareness about the impact of violence.

The exhibit features life-sized red silhouettes, each representing a real person whose life was taken by domestic violence. These powerful displays memorialize victims and bystanders who lost their lives while helping others. Each silhouette includes a story plate sharing the life and legacy of an individual, transforming statistics into personal stories that inspire reflection, dialogue, and action.

Founded in 1990, the Silent Witness Project is a national initiative dedicated to making visible the tragic reality of domestic violence, honoring those who have been lost, and advocating for safer communities.

Content Warning: This exhibit contains information related to domestic violence, intimate partner violence, homicide, and loss. Some individuals may find the content emotionally challenging. Please prioritize your well-being and seek support if needed.

Why Visit?

  • Honor the lives and memories of victims of domestic and intimate partner violence.
  • Learn about the prevalence and impact of domestic violence.
  • Reflect on how individuals and communities can help prevent violence.
  • Connect with local resources and support services.
  • Join a national movement dedicated to ending domestic violence.

The Silent Witness Exhibit serves as both a memorial and a call to action, transforming grief into awareness and silence into advocacy. By learning the stories behind each silhouette, we help ensure that these lives are remembered and that conversations about prevention, support, and change continue.

Take a few moments to stop, reflect, and learn. Awareness is the first step toward creating safer relationships and stronger communities.
