Join the Haven Project and the Alice Paul House as they shine a light on the often uncomfortable topic of sexual violence.

RAINN Day is IUP’s way of showing support for the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network (RAINN), our nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization.

You are invited to the Oak Grove to view the umbrella display, which aims to bring awareness, empowerment, and support to our campus community. Stop by the resource tables to talk to a representative or to pick up information.

Come and show that you are an ally in the fight against sexual violence.

  • Wednesday, September 24
  • 10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.

Five alarming statistics about sexual violence on college campuses, according to RAINN:

  • More than half of sexual assaults on college campuses occur during the first semester of the school year, in the months of August, September, October, and November.
  • Women ages 18–24 attending college are three times more likely than women not in this category to be the victim of sexual violence.
  • Only 20 percent of student victims, ages 18–24, ever report sexual violence incidents to law enforcement.
  • 23 percent of the transgender, genderqueer, nonconforming students have been sexually assaulted.
  • 6 percent of college students report they have experienced stalking since entering college.
